My Experiences

A service mindset in leadership is important because it fosters trust, collaboration, and a positive work environment. Leaders who prioritize the well-being of their team inspire loyalty and motivation, leading to higher productivity and better outcomes. This approach encourages empathy, active listening, and support, allowing leaders to understand their team's needs and guide them more effectively. By focusing on serving others, leaders can create a culture of mutual respect and empowerment, where team members feel valued and are more likely to contribute their best. Ultimately, it leads to stronger, more cohesive teams and sustainable success.

Over the past few years, I've volunteered at Harborside Christian Church, where I've had the opportunity to lead young children in both message and worship. I’ve been involved in planning and delivering weekly lessons, often breaking down complex concepts into simpler, relatable messages for kids. I also helped guide them through worship sessions, encouraging participation and making the experience engaging.

As a leader, I learned the importance of patience, adaptability, and clear communication. I found that leading kids requires creativity, especially in keeping their attention and ensuring they connect with the message. One memorable experience was when a child shared how a message I delivered helped them understand the importance of kindness. This feedback was incredibly rewarding and showed me the impact that thoughtful leadership can have on others, no matter their age.

Through this experience, I’ve learned to be a more empathetic leader and realized the power of leading by example. It’s not just about conveying information, but also about inspiring others and making them feel valued and heard.
